# Seasons

> Understanding growing seasons in Eyesotope

# Seasons

Seasons are time-bound planning periods that help you organize your farming activities. A season typically corresponds to a growing cycle — from planting through harvest.

## Creating a Season

1. Navigate to **Seasons** in the left sidebar
2. Click **New Season**
3. Fill in:
   * **Name** — e.g., "Spring 2026", "Winter Wheat 2025/26"
   * **Start Date** — when the season begins
   * **End Date** — expected end date
4. Click **Save**

## Season Structure

Each season contains:

* **Assigned Fields** — Fields that are part of this growing cycle, with satellite preview images and sorting options
* **Crops** — Crop types and varieties used in this season
* **Contracts** — Business agreements tied to this growing period
* **Deliveries** — Inbound and outbound shipments for the season
* **Uploads** — File uploads with processing status tracking (pending → processing → completed → failed)
* **Locations** — Geographic points of interest for this season
* **Operations** — Agricultural activities (planting, spraying, harvesting) performed during the season

## Season Detail Page

The season detail page features a **sidebar navigation** with organized sections:

### Main Sections

| Section    | Description                                                                                                               |

| Dashboard  | Overview with total fields, area coverage, crop distribution, and analytics dashboard                                     |
| Fields     | Field list with satellite preview images, sortable by name, most viewed, last viewed, sow date, area, crop, or date added |
| Crops      | Crop types and varieties assigned to this season                                                                          |
| Contracts  | Linked contracts for this growing period                                                                                  |
| Deliveries | Shipments and fulfillment tracking                                                                                        |
| Uploads    | File upload management with status tracking                                                                               |
| Locations  | Geographic points of interest                                                                                             |

### Analytics Sections

| Section     | Description                                                                  |
| ----------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Yield Race  | Compare estimated yield ratios (Ya/Ym) across all fields using 3 FAO methods |
| Health Race | Compare AI-generated health scores (0–100) across fields                     |

### Season Customization

Personalize your seasons with:

* **Star Rating** — Rate seasons 1–5 stars for quick quality assessment
* **Emoji Label** — Choose from 15 emojis to visually tag each season
* **Weigh Ticket Scanning** — Use AI-powered OCR to scan weigh tickets, auto-extracting weight, product, and partner data

## Working with Seasons

### Assigning Fields

After creating a season, assign fields to it:

1. Open the season detail page
2. Navigate to the **Fields** section in the sidebar
3. Add fields from your farm's field list
4. Each field card shows its crop, area, satellite preview image, and current status
5. Sort fields by name, most viewed, last viewed, sow date, area, crop, or date added

### Planning Operations

Within a season, create operations linked to specific fields:

1. Open a field within the season
2. Click **Add Operation**
3. Select the operation type, date, equipment, and other details
4. Track the operation status as work progresses

### Batch Operations

Use the **Quick Add** button (floating action button, bottom-right) to run batch operations across multiple fields at once — for example, applying the same spraying operation to all wheat fields in the season.

### Season Overview

The season Dashboard section provides a comprehensive view showing:

* Total fields and area coverage
* Planned vs. completed operations
* Crop distribution across fields
* Analytics dashboard with charts and metrics
* Activity timeline

### Season Analytics

The season detail page includes an **Analytics** section in the sidebar with cross-field comparison tools:

* **Yield Race** — Compare estimated yield ratios (Ya/Ym) across all fields using 3 FAO methods. Identify top and bottom performers, view method agreement, and explore deficit-yield correlations.
* **Health Race** — Compare AI-generated health scores (0–100) across fields. See health distribution, correlate health with yield, and quickly identify fields that need attention.

### Archiving Seasons

Seasons can be soft-archived when they're no longer active:

1. Open the season detail page
2. Click the **Archive** button
3. The season moves to the Archive Center and can be restored at any time

  Use seasons to compare performance across different growing periods. By organizing your data by season, you can track year-over-year improvements and identify trends. Star ratings help you quickly recall which seasons performed best.
